In a 2005 presentation to the CSGnet Annual Meeting, I argued that protocols and collective control allow for the creation of organisations that are control systems, complete and entire, with people as their functions and protocols performed by people as their transmission channels, in the same way that neurons provide the functions and transmission channels in the individual brain.
